Prince Albert lies in the Central Karoo at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains. The village is just two hours drive from the Garden Route and an hour from Route 62. You can also reach us by travelling up the N1 from Cape Town and turning right at Prince Albert Road, a four hour drive. All roads are tarred except for the Swartberg Pass, which is a well maintained gravel road, the tarred road through Meiringspoort providing an alternative route between Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert.

You might like a wander round the local Museum, art galleries, weavery and various curio and craft shops.

A local tour guide and story teller can tell you more about the history and characters of the village.

Taste local cheeses at the dairy and visit nearby farms to see how they process figs and olives.

Aromatherapy and other relaxing treatments are available at two wellness centres in the village.

The Karoo, with its vast spaces and crystal clear air is an artist's delight. The Aloe Cottage garden offers subjects for botanical and landscape artists.

There are fossils and Bushman paintings on nearby farms and you can take scenic drives through the Swartberg and the Karoo.
