Description: Fully boooked from 16 November 2006 to 19 November 2006 Fully booked from 22th December 06 to 29 December 2006 Pumula is a working grain and cattle farm 7km outside Fouriesburg in the Eastern Free State highlands. The region boasts fantastic scenery, may various outdoor activities and Anglo/Boer Ware history. It is situated in the Brandwater Basin south of Bethlehem and on the border with Lesotho. Clarence and Golden Gate are 15 to 20 minutes drive away and snow skiing some 80km into Lesotho. The accommodation is spread over three luxurious chalets. The Bull’s Nose has four bedrooms plus a fold out couch and caters for between 8 and 10 people. Two of the bedrooms are en suite. There is a third bathroom plus a separate guest toilet. Beds. 2 X Double - 2 X Single - 2 X bunk & 1 X foldout couch. The White House has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other wit 2 single beds. There is a separate bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. Beds: 2 X Double & 2 X Single. The Bush House has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds. There is a separate bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and basin. Beds: 2 X Double & 2 X Single. All the chalets are fully equipped and include bedding and bath towels. They all have open fireplaces and their own braai facilities. On site activities include: The Clubhouse incorporates a outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam bath, TV lounge and a pub. These facilities are available on request. On the farm there are two short walking trails, and mountain bikes can be hired by the energetic. Horse riding is provided and must be arranged in advance. Trips range from a relaxed scenic ride to full on cattle herding. Out-rids with over-night camping is also available. Our dams are not yet stocked with fish but from February 2005 we should be getting our first delivery of Yellowfish. This should satisfy any fly-fisherman. Short tours of the farm can also be arranged. Feeding the horses and milking the cow is available to the kids. Off-site activates include: A trip to Clarens to explore the art galleries and experience the many pubs and restaurants. A trip to the Basotho Cultural Village, which is about an hour drive from us, through the Golden Gate National Park. There is an accompanied tour through an example of a typical Basotho village. On-site is a small curio and local art shop. On the way back, stop at Golden Gate for scenery and walks. Tour of Clarens area on four-wheelers with a guide. They have options from 1 hour to 5 hour rides. The prices vary from R235 (1 hour) to R600 (5 hour, lunch incl.) per person, with a minimum of two people per ride. Explore Lesotho. This is a day trip. Explore Fouriesburg. Our town has quite a few sandstone buildings of historical value. We suggest a tour on foot, if it is not too cold, else by car. Meiringskloof is our local nature park and has good hiking trails. On the way to the border from us, there is Camelroc resort, which offers good walking trails and a 4x4 trail worth your while. They will take one out in their own vehicle, and charge R50.00 per person, with a minimum charge of R150 per trip. Advanced booking is required. Close to us we have our very own ruin of a castle. It’s a good 4X4 ride with spectacular views. We have 3 golf courses in the area, Bethlehem (18 holes), Ficksburg (18 holes) and Clarens (9 holes). Annual events include: Asparagus festival every September/October Cherry festivals every November Surrender Hill Marathon every February, this is a qualifier for Comrades.
