It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the steep, rock-strewn grassland is left behind, and one enters this little enchanted world. The mystique of the place is tangible. Following a designated trail deeper and deeper into the gorge, a strong feeling of peace will overwhelm you. There are various hiking trails for the ardent hiker and for the not so fit. Built in rock hewn from the surrounding hills, a magnificent lodge-under-thatch has been constructed with views of the gorge and the surrounding cliffs and mountain, within earshot of baboon barks echoing down the valley. Come spend a few nights in the totally sublime luxury of the stone suite's, built in one of the circles of this ancient stone-walled village, totally surrounded by indigenous bush and trees. The ambience is complemented by the beautiful interior design and opulence of the furniture and facilities. There are four guest suites plus a double room for children next to the Swainson suite. You will enjoy total private access to the lodge. Three of the suites have huge bathtubs for two set in a bay window. And looking into the bush, an outside bush shower attached to the bathroom. These room's are totally secluded in indigenous bush, with their own private verandah, with table and chairs and large umbrella. Carmine luxury suite: This spacious suite supports a fireplace, DSTV, his and her Out door stone showers, veranda, huge bath for two with lots of romantic candles. King size extra length bed. Narina and Cinnamon Luxury Suites (Own private veranda, outdoor stone shower, with the Big bath in the bay window, TV and is totally private) The third suite boasts a four poster bed, small lounge area and a large bathtub surrounded by stone, Tea, coffee etc, kettle, hairdryer, and Forest Creek bath robes are supplied for your comfort in all suites. Swainson Luxury suite: (Big corner bath with shower and full DSTV) Sunbird room: (1 single bed, double bunk beds, or convert to a king bed en-suite shower and toilet) You will dine on good country fare, full English breakfast, and dinner is included in the rates. Forest Creek boasts a huge fireplace. Weather permitting, you can enjoy your meals and drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the valley. Self-Catering: The Forest cottage is a cosy rustic wooden cottage is set next to the forest, and within earshot of the stream,with views of the mountains. Which comprises of one double room en-suite, and a separate small room which can accoodate one person. The cottage has a fireplace in the lounge/diningroom and is fully equipped. There is a large outside braai area, with a table for a lazy breakfast, lunch or supper. We also cater for small intimate weddings, a maximum of 22 people. These take place outside under the Gazebo overlooking the gorge. There is fishing available 10kms away in the kwena dam, where you can try you hand at Bass, Cat fish and carp!
