Marracuene Lodge Click on a photo to enlarge it. Description: Located at the Incomati River mouth. At a short boat trip to the Macaneta beaches and Xefina islands. Approximately 35 Kms north of Maputo. Tar road except for the last 5Kms of sand road, which is negotiable with 4x2 vehicles. The facilities available includes: 3 x Two bedrooms Chalet (5 Sleeper), 3 One bedroom Chalets, Camping facilities with ablution block and a rustic shop. Chalets have in-suite flushing toilets and hot/cold showers. There are two boats for hire and canoes for the guests to use in the river. Water is pumped from a borehole and there are several taps around the camp / Lodge. All Chalets have in-suite flushing toilets and hot/cold showers. Hot water is supplied from Firewood-Boilers and the staff has to be advised what time the hot water is needed so that they keep the boilers warm for your showers. There is a small swimming pool and the river is not the ideal for swimming. A 10 min boat trip can take the guests to Macaneta Beaches. Fishing in the river is ok and the water is salty, but no great expectations should be created. Fishermen's can use the concrete ramp to launch their boats at a nominal fee and go out to the sea for deep sea fishing, diving, etc. The shop supplies basic groceries and some items that you may need during your stay including candles, matches, batteries, paraffin, charcoal, etc. No fresh vegetables, yoghurt, milk etc is available unless by prior arrangement. The chalets have glasses, plates & cutlery but it doesn’t have stove or fridge. You may use one of the barbecue areas around the chalets. ACTIVITIES: Relaxing (the Lodge is extremely quite and surrounded by nature). Bird watching. Canoeing. Boating and Fishing on the river. River boat trips to Macaneta Beach and Xefina Islands. Swimming pool. Volleyball. Ideal for water sports (bring your own Jet sky / water sky / etc). Fishermen can launch their boats for deep sea fishing, diving, etc. Pick-nicks. Team building programs. The Lodge is located at the river side and not at the beach front. However the Lodge provide a service to transfer its clients to Macaneta Beaches and Xefina Islands. The boat takes up to 10 Passengers each time and the trip takes approximately 10 Minutes. During this trip you may see a wide variety of birds and in certain seasons flamingos can be seen as well. Lots of mangrove and reeds views over the island. You may also make use of the swimming pool available. Bring what you need particularly if you are sure you will need it. The shop of the lodge will supply other items that you may need but on a limited stock and variety. If you stay for a few days, staff can always supply on order basis even if it is not available ex-stock on the following day. Recent up dates at the Resort: With a new manager on-site and some investment done, if you have not been there recently, you better go there and check it out for yourself. The electricity from the municipality has been established, the houses refurbished and the enchanted forest expanded, among many other changes…for the good of course. For the real 4x4 enthusiasts we have the Costa do Sol road from Maputo right to the lodge, which is great fun for 4x4 vehicles, motorbikes & quad bikes alike. Remember --------- we have an annual event on the 10th November Book it on your agenda and make sure you book in time and attend it. The Lodge run a few fishing competitions and the result is amazing. Easy launch of the boats, easy access from/to Maputo and dedicated personnel to assist with all the fishermen requirements.
