Treeferns Trout Lodge Click on a photo to enlarge it. Description: Treeferns Trout Lodge has three comfortable, fully equipped, self catering, stonebuilt chalets with electricity, for 6 to 8 persons. There are four self-catering chalets plus a flat overlooking the dams, each sleeping 6 people in 3 separate bedrooms, fully equipped, electricity, fire place, braai. Cottage sleeps 4. Lapa for group events. (Rhebuck, Arum and Oudekraal) each with three spacious bedrooms (2 beds each), an open plan lounge/dining-room/kitchen with hearth, 2 bathrooms, deck, carport and barbecue area. Electricity is supplied by ESKOM. The spacious farmhouse is also used for visitors occasionally. Spectacular scenery and views of the nearby towns of Dullstroom, Machadodorp and Waterval Boven. The farm has an abundant and constant supply of water from a number of strong, perennial fountains, some of which feed the trout dams. These are probably among the highest in the area and therefore ideal for trout. The 8 dams stocked on a monthly basis with rainbow, brown, and golden trout. Water temperatures in summer vary between 15? and 18?. There are at present 8 earth dams, 4 weirs and pools stocked on a monthly schedule with rainbow and brown trout. Fishing is very lively and rewarding. The springs remain more or less constant even in severe droughts, and cause the dams to overflow throughout the year. The dams are crystal clear except after occasional floods. "Special midweek rates."
