Description: The Grey Goose Farm Lodge, in the Drakensberg foothills, sits on a hill overlooking the Nguduma Vlei with views of the mountains and the town of Newcastle. Situated midway between Johannesburg & Durban, the Grey Goose is an ideal venue for conferences or as a stop over point for the long trip to and from the coast. Experience peace & tranquility with geese roaming around the landscaped gardens and enjoy the many facilities that Newcastle has to offer. The farm has been game fenced and Blesbok, Rietbok and Zebras are roaming the fields surrounding the lodge. The Grey Goose is also proud to have a fully licensed ala Carte restaurant, GOOSEBERRIES, that is open to the public. The Grey Goose boasts twenty-eight en-suite rooms, individually furnished, and provide every necessary facility to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. All rooms consist of either a double- or two single beds and a TV with SABC 1, 2, 3, MNET and E-tv. Our lavish honeymoon suite has it's own private veranda, an atrium shower and a romantic lounge area with it's own fireplace. All accommodation rates include a full breakfast served from 6:30am to 10:00am every morning. The lodge can also provide dormitory accommodation at Daryll Cullinan's cricket academy. The Grey Goose offers five well-situated function areas that cater for any functions, conferences and weddings big and small. The latest addition to our facilities is our newly built function hall. Opening up into our original function hall and breakfast area, this hall can seat up to 450 people. It has it's own bar, toilets, lounge and a lovely open-air deck with a great view of the mountains and its beautiful surroundings. A very popular little area is our gazebo next to the swimming pool. Ideal for wedding ceremonies and small, private functions. Seats 60 people cinema style. The conference room is fully equipped with screen, overhead projector, flipcharts and a telephone line. This area can be used for any conference, business meeting or private functions. Seats 100 cinema style. The "old" function room / breakfast area can still be utilized and seats up to a 150 people cinema style. This facility is next to the main bar and has it's own toilet facility. For an outdoor function the beautiful Mosklip, situated +/- 400 meters from the main buildings, is ideal for those "around the campfire evenings." Come and experience various South African wildlife species on horse-back, and find out just how close you can get to wild animal. Roam the plains at the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains on your trusty steed, and experience some of South Africa's history firsthand. Explore the Battlefields route with knowledgeable guides. For the daring few; come scale treacherous mountain cliffs with us on our surefooted ponies. A breathtaking 360 degree view awaits you at the top along with the Ngogo River Camp. There are two stone cottages, (pre-Anglo-Boer war vintage), that sleep 15 people. This camp is fully electrified with hot and cold running water.
