Description: Accommodation on Wild Olive Farm is comprised of six fully furnished self catering cottages and a grassed campsite overlooking our new vineyard with mountain views all around. Three of the cottages were commissioned in June 2003 and the other three cottages were original labourers cottages that were converted to guest cottages about 10 years ago. All our cottages are priced per unit and not per person. Our three brand new Cape Dutch style cottages have all been specifically designed to provide our guests with maximum comfort during their stay. Situated adjacent to neighbouring vineyards, all offer spectacular views of the surrounding Witzenburg mountains and overlook our large dam. All three are fully equipped, tastefully furnished and have their own private braai areas, “riet dak” and timber ceilings, fitted panel heaters, bathrooms with separate showers and jetmaster log fireplaces. Guinea Fowl Cottage is the largest of our new cottages and boasts three bedrooms configured as two twins and one double. The main double bedroom has an en-suite shower and toilet facilities. There is also a family bathroom with bath, overhead shower and w/c. There is an open plan living area with jetmaster fireplace as well as the dining and kitchen area with French doors leading onto a large pergola covered terrace offering magnificent views of the surrounding valley. Kingfisher Cottage is situated closest to the mountain, this cottage has one double bedroom and one twin. The bathroom has a bath, separate shower and wc. There is an open plan living area with jetmaster fireplace as well as the dining and kitchen area with French doors leading onto a large pergola covered terrace, offering spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Fish Eagle Cottage shares similar views and internal layout to King Fisher cottage, this cottage also has one double bedroom and one twin. The bathroom has a bath, separate shower and wc. There is an open plan living area with jetmaster fireplace as well as the dining and kitchen area with French doors leading onto a large pergola covered terrace, offering spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Our original three cottages detailed below do not have electricity although gas stoves, fridges, geysers, gas lamps and cosy fireplaces keep our guests very comfortable. Hoopoe and Plover, these two cottages are open plan semi-detached units, each with a kitchenette and indoor Jetmaster log fireplace. Each cottage has a shower and wc. Plover cottage has a double bed, while Hoopoe cottage has two single beds. Outside there is a tiled stoep and private braai area with lovely views. NOTE: To ensure privacy we never rent out both cottages together unless guests are part of the same group. Blue Crane Cottage. This cottage has a double bed in the main bedroom and bunk beds in an alcove off the living area. NOTE:The bunk beds are unfortunately not suitable for large adults. athroom with shower and wc as well as a Jetmaster log fireplace in the openplan lounge/dining area. Outside there is a tiled stoep and private braai area with fantastic views. Apart from just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery and tranquility on the farm, guests are also welcome to fish for trout, carp and bream or swim in any of our three dams. Indian kayaks and a rowing boat are also available at no extra charge. To date we have recorded approximately seventy species of birds although we're told by the experts that up to 200 species are likely to be spotted in this area of the Western Cape. Kids are also welcome to help out with the daily egg collecting ritual as well as feeding our two minature Welsh Mountain ponies "Shiraz" and her foal, "Minty". Our sheep have also proven to be an attraction for the kids as they graze their days away in the meadows. Occasionally, or by request, we also arrange trailer drawn tractor rides for the kids up to the dams (and parents too if they want to come along for the ride).
